In accordance with state and federal law, the intentional or unintentional release of hazardous materials beyond the reportable quantities must be reported. Notification is made to N.D. Department of Emergency Services (NDDES) through the Division of State Radio by calling (800) 472-2121.

In addition, the initial notification will require a follow-up report using a Hazardous Materials Spill Report form. As soon as safe conditions allow after a hazardous materials release, the owner or operator from the responsible party shall provide a written follow-up spill report(s) to NDDES.

Information required in this report includes:

  • Actions taken to respond to and contain the release.

  • Any known or anticipated acute or chronic health risks associated with the release.

  • Advice regarding medical attention necessary for exposed individuals, if needed.
