As our new team member, you will be responsible for conducting field inspections for all types of construction projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and contract documents. You'll get to work with cutting-edge equipment like Robotic Total Station and GPS, and use Microstation and Geopack programs to measure, calculate, and print reports and cross-sections. You'll also get to perform daily tests and prepare forms for all types of projects to ensure materials are within NDDOT specifications. But that's not all! You'll have the opportunity to assist project engineers with checking and organizing project final records, as well as with district design work that requires the use of Microstation. Minimum Qualifications

You must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and a basic understanding of the concepts needed for this type of work. You will need to be able to work in all types of weather on a variety of uneven or slippery surfaces, have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry several items with a total weight of 50 pounds, and have a valid North Dakota Class D driver's license in order to travel to project locations.But most importantly, we're looking for someone who is passionate about construction and engineering, has strong organizational and communication skills, and is proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word. As a Temporary Maintenance Technician, you will perform highway, roadway, and structure maintenance. You will complete highway maintenance duties, which include roadway repairs, assisting in installing, repairing, and maintaining highway signs and guardrails. To complete these tasks and others assigned, you will operate power tools and other equipment to perform maintenance duties. Part of this job is to keep the roadways clear of any hazards, this includes litter, waste, debris, garbage. Assisting with traffic control setup and flagging will also be required.You will also be required to complete building and ground maintenance duties, such as tree trimming, mowing, painting, fence repair, gutter/downspout cleaning. As well as assisting with inventory tracking/storage. You will also perform minor preventive and repair maintenance on vehicles and equipment, parts runs, and assisting in the shop.An important part of this position and the culture at the NDDOT is to maintain a safe working environment for yourself, your coworkers, and others.

Minimum Qualifications

This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the mechanics and operations of a diverse fleet and equipment.
