If the position is filled in Jamestown, they will supervise and support adult males in custody in a correctional facility classroom at the James River Correctional Center, which is a medium security facility. If the position is filled in the Bismarck-Mandan area they would supervise and support adult males at ND State Penitentiary which is a maximum-security facility and/or youth held in a correctional setting at the Youth Correctional Center. This position is a 40 hour per week, year-round temp position which includes single / family health insurance premium fully paid by the state of North Dakota.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of educational programming, good communication skills, ability to work effectively with adults in custody on a daily basis, and ability to function well as a team member. Must be able to successfully complete an interview, standard background and criminal record check. A bachelor's degree in a teaching field and a North Dakota Teaching Certificate are preferred.

As a Licensed Addiction Counselor with the Heart River Correctional Center, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team to conduct assessments and referrals, facilitate evidence-based programming and individual counseling, provide case management, crisis intervention, and group therapeutic counseling services to individuals, families, and clients at our correctional facilities. These services include the assessment and treatment of complex cases such as mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders.

Minimum Qualifications

Addiction Counselor I - Requires a bachelor's degree in Addiction Counseling, Addiction Studies, Social Work, Counseling or Psychology, AND current licensure as an Addiction Counselor by the North Dakota Board of Addiction Counseling Examiners. Starting Salary: $6,067Addiction Counselor II - Requires a bachelor's degree in Addiction Counseling, Addiction Studies, Social Work, Counseling or Psychology, Licensure as an Addiction Counselor (LAC) by the ND Board of Addition Counseling Examiners, and Two years of experience as a Licensed Addiction Counselor. A Master's Degree in one of the majors listed above will substitute for one year of experience. Only professional-level addiction counselor experience in a private or public facility is qualifying and given credit. Starting Salary: $6,203.
