PER 213 Wide Area Search and Rescue

Location: Williston

PER 213 Wide Area Search and Rescue will be held at the Williams County Highway Complex, 5218 141st Ave NW, Williston, ND. Class will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. each day. 

The Wide Area Search course is designed to provide training for search responders to effectively conduct wide area searches due to natural disasters or man-made incidents. The course introduces the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform wide area searches at a disaster incident site. The course uses the 2007 Greensburg, Kansas tornado as a case study to demonstrate the various teaching points. The course concludes with a culminating event table top exercise that requires participants to utilize all the skills introduced throughout the course. 

The Incident Command System (ICS), which is a Unified Command system under the National Response Framework, is used in the course. Participants are encouraged to become familiar with the ICS by taking the following online courses before attending the course.
